Move Your Body Studio and Pilbara OT announce community partnership to bring specialty services to the Pilbara.

Move Your Body Studio and Pilbara Occupational Therapy have teamed up to deliver accessible OT services for Pilbara families and specialised community based programs targeting inclusive participation and a strength based learning approach to family support.

Pilbara OT launched their new suite of services in January 2020, with the arrival of their passionate and experienced Occupational Therapist, Kelsie Burns. Kelsie brings 7 years’ experience of clinical OT service and a wealth of expertise in sensory processing, neurological and developmental differences.

Pilbara OT, the sister company of Pilbara Physiotherapy, run by locals Hayley and David Rigby, currently operates out of Karratha Central Health Care but will move their practise to Move Your Body Studio one day per week, enabling families to access occupational therapy services easily in a sensory sensitive and familiar environment.

Pilbara OT will operate at the centre on Mondays, commencing 9th March 2020, although will offer half day services on the 27th February and 04th March, and then on Mondays thereafter.
The Move Your Body Studio board voted to partner with Pilbara OT at last Tuesdays meeting as they said, it was an extremely exciting opportunity and this partnership supports the studios vision to offer accessible health and therapy services to their families, in the studio, as we know this can be barrier for our families particularly to access these services elsewhere in the community.

The support is also welcomed as Move Your Body Studio continues to develop their services, providing community based opportunities for participants of all abilities, particularly their new All Abilities Sports Centre.

Pilbara OT will work closely with the Disability Services Team at Move Your Body Studio to provide an individualised approach to each of their participants attending group programs, including their Sensory School Readiness program which targets early intervention and school readiness skills for children transitioning to school the following year.

We are looking forward to seeing the positive impact and increased support for the families in our community due to this partnership.
